Mount School historians are part of a York ISSP winning Legacy110 project

We are really pleased that the York ISSP Centenary Battlefields Legacy 110 project has won a national award.  From the commemoration in York Minster to the Castle Museum summer 2016 exhibition, this has been a great team effort by staff and students across the city.  A proper ISSP partnership effort!  The Mount School contribution to ‘1916: it’s more than the Somme’ was to research where all the fighting was happening in 1916, to identify where British men were fighting, and to research and write up the stories of a variety of people who died in 1916.  We enjoyed working with people from across the city.  Rachael Maskell MP for York Central attended the presentation of our award at the House of Lords and was really pleased to hear about all the great work going on.  A York follow up presentation for everyone is planned for early 2017.
