Medieval Merriment – the 9th and 10th centuries

Planning is now well underway for the Creative Arts Festival Medieval Merriment and here is edition 3 of our historical overview of the Middle Ages. MMerriment 3

There is so much more to the 9th and 10th centuries.  For a sense of where power was at this time why not look at Timeline 9th and 10th centuries.  There is plenty of York at his time at History of York , though sadly a trip to the Jorvik Centre will have to wait until the flood damage is repaired.  Search on YouTube for ‘Michael Wood Athelstan’ and you will find some programmes from a great communicator about this period.  The historian, Michael Wood, tells the tales of Alfred, Aefled and Athelstan.  The last of these  kings should probably be as famous as Henry VIII.
