Here is information about a screening of film footage from York in WW1 that is being shown as part of the Short Film Festival.
The manager of the Yorkshire Film Archives says:
“A little girl in a pinafore dress runs across the parade of the York and Lancaster Regiment by Skeldergate Bridge to say good bye to her father before he goes to war. A woman holds the hand of a soldier as he marches across Lendal Bridge on his way to Flanders. A tank rolls past Micklegate en route to the Knavesmire in peacetime following the end of WW1. These are just few of the fleeting moments captured on film that the Yorkshire Film Archive has preserved and will present at a special Screening of Filmed and Not Forgotten on Remembrance Sunday at the National Centre for Early Music”
