John Snow – York’s most famous doctor?

John Snow was born in York in 1813 and went on to become famous for proving that cholera was spread by infected water. Most experts at the time blamed bad air, but Snow used the skills of a brilliant scientist and undertook close observation to decide upon an experiment that proved his theory. He did this years before the germ theory was developed too – real independent thinking in action! Follow the link above to hear the story.
