Year 9 have been exploring which invention is the most historically significant

Judging how significant something is has caused the class to think hard. We decided that to be considered truly significant we needed to consider the following –

how many people’s lives have been changed by this invention?
is the invention just limited to the rich i.e. how accessible is it?
the longevity of the invention
can we imagine life without it?

These are some of year 9’s nominations – do you agree with them? What would you nominate? Next week Year 9 are going to have a debate to decide which invention is crowned the MOST SIGNIFICANT invention of all time.
